RUNNING BUMS

Several years ago,  founders Jeremy and Adriana, made the decision to live completely off running and racing. It wasn’t really a tough decision because this is what we love to do.  And when you truly love to do something, everything comes natural.

Our base camp is located in the gorgeous, thin-air, town of Fort Collins, Colorado.  We’ve raced and trained in over 14 countries on 4 continents but there is simply no place like home. Running Bums was created to help runners achieve their goals and take the complexity and mystery out of running. You don't have to be an ELITE runner to train like one. Adrianna Nelson-Pirtea is a world-class elite marathoner and multiple Olympic A-Standard Qualifier, with a marathon personal of 2 hrs and 28 min. "I am giving you the same training techniques I used when I ran a 1:09 Half-Marathon - and they will work whether you are training for 1:05 or 2 hours." Her husband, Jeremy Nelson has grown into a proven marathon coach helping runners crank out their goals with smart, practical training programs.

A natural competitor and born runner, Adriana is living her dream of being a professional runner.   She got addicted to winning after haphazardly jumping into a race when she was 17 and winning the entire race.  Her running success in Europe brought her to the University of Texas, El Paso on a running scholarship and didn’t disappoint, winning over 10 Western Athletic Conference Titles in the mile through 10,000m and was honored with UTEP’s Female Athlete of the Year Award.  Inspired by the marathon, she started things out with a half-marathon in Holland, running 1:09, giving her confidence for the ultimate distance.  She entered in her first marathon, the Chicago Marathon, and had the race won, if it weren’t for the amazing effort of Ethiopia’s, World Champion, Berhane Adere, passing her with 3 seconds left.  (See the amazing video below!)  Astonished, by what had happened, Adriana did the best she could to appreciate the 2nd place finish in one of the world’s most prestigious races, and went on to run the London Marathon in 2:28.  There is always the next race to look forward to with Adriana.
